Battle of the Balls V was the first of back-to-back tournaments in January 2011. The tournament featured four teams: District Five, Deepwell, Silverwings and the Autobots.District Five went undefeated in five games to capture their third consecutive championship. Forward Harold Cecchetti was named Tournament MVP after scoring the game-winning goal in the last minute of the championship game against Team Deepwell. Take that, Stefan.
The tournament also featured the first shootout in BOTB history, as Team Deepwell required the tie-breaker to advance past the Autobots in their semifinal. Also marking a first was the appearance of the truly bizarre and regrettable septer-trophy, pictured to the right in Stefan's hand and in several pictures below. Its oddity rivalled only by the goldplated-wizard-carrying-a-hockey-ball-in-his-sack MVP trophy, also pictured below. Mantel-worthy.
